Research is the task of looking for knew knowledge, or testing the validity of a given presumption in a given domain. It is a mental and a physical activity that can be found in individuals’ daily lives and extends to the more systematic domains of study and work.
For a research to be more effective, reliable, and pursued with less efforts, it has to be conducted in a scientific manner. This scientism is the product of a sound methodology which is the subject of the current module entitled “Research Methodology.”
In their first year at university, this module familiarizes students with the concept of academic research as well as the tools and procedures necessary to undertake it. It is divided into a set of learning units that introduce them to the main components of research and equip them with the skills to employ them in real research. It serves, on the whole, as an introduction to the field of academic research and its methodology and as a preparation for the students to become future researchers.
