The primary aim of the current lesson is to provide a broad overview of the subject matter of sociolinguistics. The latter is concerned with how language use interacts with or is affected by, social factors such as gender, ethnicity, age, and social class.   

Objectives : 

1 - The lesson will increase students’  awareness of the ways that language and social contexts interact. 

2 - students will be able to differentiate between micro sociolinguistics and macro sociolinguistics 

3 - students will be able to understand the position of sociolinguistics as a scientific field
